You heard that right... a juicy fresh peach margarita with hot honey and cinnamon cayenne rim! With the start of the peach season almost here, I couldn't not make a cocktail with delicious fresh peaches. I love citrus season in the winter and berry season in the summer but peach season has to be my favorite! And this is my favorite cocktail to make when the peaches are so juicy and intensely sweet!

ingredients 🧾

Hot Honey Peach Margarita:
Tequila: Every margarita needs tequila! This margarita recipe uses reposado tequila since it is aged with notes of caramel and spices, and it perfectly compliments the peach flavor. You will need 3 ounces of tequila.
Grand Marnier: Grand Marnier goes heavenly in this peach margarita recipe since it has notes of vanilla and toffee. However, you can use another orange liqueur like Triple Sec or Cointreau. You can even use peach schnapps instead if you really want to pack the peach flavor. You will need 1 ounce Grand Marnier.
Lime Juice: Fresh lime juice is added to the margarita for acidity. Extra lime juice is used to rim the cocktail glass to adhere to the cinnamon cayenne rim. You will need 1 oz of lime juice, which is typically one lime.
Hot Honey: Hot honey gives this peach margarita a spicy kick! My favorite hot honey is Mike's hot honey, Nate's hot honey, or the spicy honey from Trader Joe's. You will need ½ ounce hot honey.
Peach Puree: See below for the full ingredients. You will need ½ ounce of fresh peach puree. If you don't want to make homemade peach puree, you can use this pre-made peach puree.
Cinnamon: Ground cinnamon is used on the rim of the margarita to compliment the sweetness of the peaches. Just ½ teaspoon of cinnamon is needed.
Cayenne: Ground cayenne pepper is used on the rim of the margarita to add some heat to the cinnamon and intensify the chili flavor from the hot honey. Just a dash or ⅛ teaspoon is used.
Peach Puree:
Peaches: The base of the peach puree is fresh yellow peaches. You can also use frozen peach slices if fresh peaches are not in season. You will need 2 fresh peaches (or 2 cups frozen peach slices). The peaches should be peeled and diced.
Brown Sugar: Brown sugar sweetens the peach puree and adds to the overall sweetness of the cocktail. You will need ¼ cup of brown sugar.
Vanilla bean: 1 vanilla bean pod is added to compliment the caramel-y notes in the peaches.
Water: Just a touch of water loosens up the simmered fruit and makes it that puree consistency. You will need ¼ cup.

variations & substitutions 📖
If you're not a fan of spicy cocktails, you can make this a regular peach margarita. If you'd prefer not to have spice in the margarita, simply replace the hot honey with regular honey or agave nectar.
Instead of tequila reposado, try another tequila. You can use silver tequila, anejo tequila, or even mezcal.
Opt for a different cocktail rim. Instead of a spicy cinnamon rim, you can use tajin, margarita salt, or even sugar on the rim of the glass.

tips & tricks 👩🏻🍳
Use a high-quality tequila. I love using Casamigos Reposado or 818 Reposado for this margarita recipe. The tequila you use is based on your personal preference, but be sure to use high-quality tequila since the flavor impacts the cocktail.
Only use fresh citrus juices. Only use fresh ingredients when making a margarita. Bottled lime juice has preservatives that can taste weird when added to a cocktail.
Drink this hot honey margarita out of a fun margarita glass. You gotta have a cute cocktail glass when enjoying a margarita! My favorite cocktail glass to use for a margarita is a colorful rimmed rocks glass. Or for a modern twist, use these ribbed stemless margarita glasses.
step by step instructions 🔪

Step #1 - Prepare peach puree. Pitt, peel and cut the peaches into 1 inch dice. In a small pot over medium high heat, combine the diced peaches, brown sugar, vanilla bean pod cut in half, and water. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 20-30 minutes until the peaches are soft. Then remove from the heat and cool for at least 10 minutes. Remove the vanilla bean pod.

Step #2 - Mix the cinnamon cayenne rim & rim the glass. In a small bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and ground cayenne. Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of the cocktail glass. Then gently dip in the cinnamon cayenne rim. Shake off any excess seasoning.

Step #3 - Blend peach puree. Pour the cooled peach mixture into a blender or food processor. Blend until the peaches are pureed and the consistency is jam-like.

Step #4 - Prepare the cocktail. In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, lime juice, Grand Marnier, hot honey, and peach puree.

Step #5 - Shake the cocktail. Add ice cubes to the cocktail shaker. With two hands tightly on the cocktail shaker, vigorously shake for at least 30 seconds.

Step #6 - Pour, garnish, and enjoy! Put fresh ice in the rimmed cocktail glass. Then pour the margarita into the glass. Top with a fresh peach slice and lime wheel. Cheers!
serving suggestions 🍽️
Serve this hot honey peach margarita in a rimmed cocktail glass with a fresh peach slice and lime slice as garnish.
To complete your happy hour spread, pair this summery margarita with some fresh appetizers like air fryer brie bites, rainbow smoked salmon salad, and fried goat cheese balls.
storage 🫙
Before storing the peach puree, ensure it is completely cooled. Then store the cooled mixture in a tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
For a longer storage method, place peach puree into ice cube trays and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to use, simply add to your cocktail and it will defrost in the drink.
Peaches are the most ripe and the sweetest in the summer season!
This hot honey peach margarita can be made into a healthier version by substituting the Grand Marnier for 1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice and instead of brown sugar in the peach puree, you can use stevia.
The most common reason for a bitter margarita is because of bad limes or an off ratio of lime juice in the cocktail. Check out my post on how to tell if a lime is bad to be sure you have fresh good limes before making your margarita.
One peach produces about 1 cup of peach slices. So when using frozen peaches in recipes that call for a whole fresh peach, simply measure out 1 cup of frozen peach slices.
